It gives the player the tools to enjoy the world and subsequently just leaves him or her in it. Tl dr Morrowind's story and world just get better the more you learn about them. Out of any 3D game BGS has ever pushed out, it feels like they worked the hardest on Morrowind-and it really shows. Morrowind knows it'll wow the player and presents him or her with the world as it is, take it or leave it. Skyrim feels as though it isn't quite convinced of its ability to wow the player and so tries to draw him or her in. The main difference between Skyrim and Morrowind is that Skyrim tries to pull the player in while Morrowind puts that burden on the player. The learning curve, especially going from Skyrim, is going to be very steep, but if you can manage that, the game slowly opens up to you. Great writing, fleshed-out faction systems, and it doesn't treat the player like a bumbling moron. Oblivion is decent, but Morrowind is the king of the 3D TES games imo. MGSO just updates Morrowind's mechanics and graphics to a modern standard and adds some ambient sounds. If its player choice and a vast original world to explore and you don't mind dated graphics and die roll type combat I'd absolutely go to Morrowind (best 1st person visualized game world in all RPG'dom) or even further back to Daggerfall (best Character creation scheme ever implemented to date).
